Q. Why hire a wedding planner?

Q. My venue/caterer has an “event planner” or “wedding coordinator.” Don’t you do the same thing?

Q. How do I know which consultant is right for me?
Q. I have a very good idea of what I want my wedding to be—how can I be sure you won’t “take over” my wedding?

Q. How do you handle emergencies?
Q. I have a list of very specific tasks I would like for my wedding coordinator to perform—do I have to buy a whole package?

Q. Ok, I’m interested. What is the next step?

We’ll answer that one with another question: How can you be expected to plan and execute your ideal wedding if you’ve never done it before?

Planning a wedding requires navigation through some unfamiliar territory. It’s nice to have a professional and experienced partner/friend/representative/advocate/ assistant/negotiator there when you just don’t want to or know how to deal with certain situations.

There’s a phrase that you will hear constantly throughout your planning process—“It’s your day.” It’s true. It is your day. But you will still be bombarded with opinions and judgments from vendors, family, and anyone involved in your wedding. They will tell you “it’s your day,” and then without taking another breath, will tell you, “you can’t do it that way.”

You will likely find yourself “choosing your battles” at least once or twice throughout the process. Your wedding shouldn’t be a compromise, but sometimes, you run out of energy, ideas or time, and you lose that little, but oh-so-important detail you really wanted.

CLINK will help you navigate the planning process until we’ve designed the wedding that’s uniquely yours. We specialize in executing on your vision. And we provide guidance when you just don’t have any more ideas.

We do the legwork that you don’t have time to do. We provide recommendations, suggestions and guidelines when you’re lacking answers. In addition, and perhaps most importantly, CLINK will help you stay on budget, meet your deadlines, and relieve stress.

Not really. While there are some tasks—helping to detail the reception timeline, for example—that both of us can help you with, an independent wedding planner is different in four important ways:

First—we work for YOU, not the venue or a caterer, so you can rest assured that we are always acting in your best interest, and don’t have split loyalties when it comes to advice we’re giving you.

Second—we have an overall view of the entire event, from invitation and gown to hotel welcome bags and exit favors. The venue or catering event planner knows the details of the food and the layout, but that’s about it. We know ALL the details, so we can make sure they come together seamlessly. And if there is an issue with catering and the venue or catering coordinator is busy fixing it, we’re still there to bustle your dress.

Third—when it comes to vendor recommendations, venue/catering event planners have a “canned” list of vendors that they give to all their brides. We’ve spent time with you to get a clear understanding of your budget, style, preferences and priorities, so we won’t recommend anyone or anything that isn’t a perfect fit for you (and your budget).

Fourth—Each of our planners works on only 10-15 events a year. Most venue or catering planners are juggling 30-50 (or more) events a year, meaning they have less time for YOU.

Go with your gut. You need to have good chemistry with your consultant since you’ll be spending lots of time together. Also, you may want to consider consultants’ different styles—some are more traditional, and others are more modern. You have to know which is right for you.

Arrange for initial interviews to get a good feel for their styles and personalities. At CLINK we have planners for every budget level, so no matter what your budget, you can afford a planner trained by and associated with Austin’s leading wedding planning agency. You don’t have to settle for someone who planned her own wedding last year and thought it was fun!

CLINK is about executing on a vision. We believe your wedding should speak volumes about who you are as a couple. We can’t do that without tons of input from you. You make all the decisions. We are here to provide answers to your questions, help you design your ultimate wedding, do any legwork you don’t have time to do, and to coordinate and manage your wedding day.

We also offer custom packages—if you only want help at the beginning and end, with you doing all the work in the middle, no problem!

The best part about how we handle emergencies is that you don’t have to handle them! And hopefully, you won’t even know they happened! First off, we come prepared with an extensive “Emergency Kit.”

It includes everything from hair spray to room spray, panty hose to panty liners, bobby pins to safety pins. Even black socks and smelling salts! There’s nothing we don’t come prepared for! When it comes to wedding day emergencies like the band got lost, or the food is cold, we handle it calmly and professionally. There will be no stress, no chaos. Rest assured, we will handle any situation that may arise. Our priority is ensuring you enjoy your day—start to finish!

We are at your service. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, every wedding is different.

And as such, our work varies with every wedding we service. If you have a list of specific things you need us to do, run it by us and we’ll create a package that’s all yours!

E-mail or call us to set up an initial interview, during which we’ll find out more about your wedding and which services you might want.

We’ll also get a feel for each other, to see if we’re a good fit. If possible, we like for you to meet with the planner who would actually be the lead on your wedding, so if you already have your date we need to know that. If you live out-of-state and need to make a decision long-distance, we’re happy to set up a phone interview. Within 24 hours of that interview you will receive a proposal from us with a custom wedding planning package.

While you’re waiting for that initial interview, you may want to look at photos of weddings we’ve done either in our gallery (www.clinkevents.com/weddings/gallery.html) or on our blog (www.clinkeventsblog.com).
